Eucalyptus oil blends well with
Although essential oils normally blend well together eucalyptus oilblends particularly well with benzoin, thyme, lavender, lemongrass, lemon and pine.
The uses of Eucalyptus arevery vast and wide-ranging becausethere are so many species that have medicinalproperties.
Traditionally, Eucalyptus specieshave been used for insect repellent, respiratory infections andmouth washes. The Australian Aborigines have usedtheleaves to disinfect wounds and treatinfections for thousands of years.
But unfortunately with the broaduses and abundance of species comessome confusion andevenexploitation of the consumer. This issimilar to the problems often encountered with other popularessential oils such as cinnamon essential oil andtheMelaleuca species. Therefore, it is up tous as consumers and oil users to havean understanding of the plant and theoil so we can use theoils safely and correctly.
With that said,my mission is always to do the best Ican do in presenting the facts on this website so youcan educate yourself on choosingessential oils. Then rest is up toyou!
Why is There so MuchConfusion about Eucalyptus?
With over 700species of eucalyptus, as well as chemotypes, commonnames and different parts of the plant being marketed, itis no wonderthat people are so confused! Andon top of it, most companies arelabeling the oil all under the genus of Eucalyptus. Now that is notonly confusing, but misleading!
What is a Chemotype? Oh,no…..Chemistry Again?
A chemotype (CT) is a designationthat tells you that the specieshasdifferent chemical constituents. Thisusually occurs because the plant is grown in a different area undera distinct climate that alters the chemistry. The perfume varietiesmostly contain citronellal, while the medicinal varieties containwhat we want - 1, 8 cineole.
