TEA TREE OIL

OVER VIEW:-

Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the tea tree. The teatree was named by eighteenth century sailors, who made tea thatsmelled like nutmeg from the leaves of the tree growing on theswampy southeast Australian coast. Do not confuse the tea tree withthe unrelated common tea plant that is used to make black and greenteas.

Tea tree oil is applied to the skin (used topically) forinfections such as acne, fungal infections of the nail(onychomycosis),  lice,  scabies, athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), andringworm. It is alsoused topically as a local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions, forburns,  insect bites and stings, boils, vaginalinfections, recurrent herpes labialis, toothache, infections of the mouth and nose,  sore throat, andfor ear infections such as otitis media andotitis externa.

Some people add it to bath water to treat cough, bronchialcongestion, and pulmonary inflammation.

TEA TREE OIL DIRECTLY TO ACNE:-

Tea tree oil can be applied directly to pimples for an effectiveand natural acne treatment. Tea tree oil’s natural antibacterialagents penetrate deep into the skin, unblocking sebaceous ducts, disinfecting the pores and drying out whiteheads,    blackheads and other problematic pimples.

TEA TREE OIL USE IT IN A FACE MASK :-

A few drops of tea tree oil can be added to either store-bought orhomemade face masks to kill bacteria and dry out pimples. Here aresome recipes for homemade face masks using tea treeoil:-

 * Mix 3-4 drops of tea tree oil with 2 tablespoons of greenclay powder, which can be found at most health food stores. Addenough water to turn your clay into a spreadable paste and give ita good stir. Apply the mask evenly, all over your face and neck.Leave the mask on for at least 20 minutes, until the clay dries andthe tea tree works its antibacterial magic. Rinse off with warmwater and pat dry.

 * Blend one half of a freshly chopped tomato with oneteaspoon of jojoba oil and three drops of tea tree oil to make apurée. Smear this cleansing, refreshing mixture over clean skin.Leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water andpatting dry.

 * Add 5 drops of tea tree oil to 1/4 cup of plain yogurt andapply as a mask. Rinse with warm water after 15-20minutes.

TEA TREE OIL USE IT IN A HOMEMADE FACESCRUB :-

For an effective, acne-fighting face scrub, try mixing teatree oil with some other natural ingredients from your kitchencupboard. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup ofsesame or olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and approximately 10drops of tea tree oil. Gently massage onto damp face, usingcircular motions, for 2 - 5 minutes. Wash off with warm water andpat your face dry.

 * This scrub may be a little rough for people suffering fromcystic acne, but is perfect for mild to mediumbreakouts.

 *  As both tea tree oil and honey are naturalpreservatives, you can make this scrub in bulk and store in a jarin your medicine cabinet.

TEA TREE OIL USE IT IN A HOMEMADE SPOT TREATMENT:-

If you find that pure, undiluted tea tree oil is a little tooharsh or drying on your skin, try using it in a homemade spottreatment. Simply mix a couple of drops of tea tree oil into a fewteaspoons of aloe vera gel and apply directly onto the pimple youwish to get rid of.

 * As an alternative to aloe vera, try mixing tea tree oilwith raw, organic honey. The honey supports skin healing and actsas a secondary antibacterial agent.

 * Try storing these spot treatments in small lip-glosscontainers for easy application.

TEA TREE OIL ADD IT TO YOUR CLEANSER ANDMOISTURIZER :-

A few drops of tea tree oil can be added to your dailymoisturizer and cleanser to help combat stubborn pimples. Apply 2 -6 drops, depending on how strong you want it. Just be careful notto get it in your eyes!

TEA TREE OIL ADD IT TO YOUR BATH :-

Add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to your bath to helpclear acne on your chest, back and other parts of your body. Theoil will add a fragrant scent to your bath.

* Breathing in the tea tree-infused steam can help to alleviatecongestion, so you should also try this when you have acold!
